(Decanter) - Cheval Blanc and LVMH owner Bernard Arnault is the richest man in France after increasing his fortune by 10bn euros. See which other French wine chateau owners made the rich list compiled by the Challenges business paper.

Arnault, who’s Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton empire includes names such as Krug, Dom Perignon and Cheval Blanc, has again topped the annual list of France’s 500 wealthiest people ranked Challenges. His fortune rose to an estimated €34.6bn.

Just over 10% of those listed are connected to French wine chateaux and estates. Here are some of the most prominent names:

• Serge Dassault, whose family owns Chateau Dassault in Saint Emilion alongside the aeronautical business, is at number five, one place higher than 2014, with €15.5bn.
• The Wertheimer brothers of Chanel luxury goods house and owners of Chateau Rauzan Ségla and Chateau Canon are seventh, down two places on 2014, with €16.6bn.
• François-Henri Pinault, owner of Christie’s, Bordeaux first growth Chateau Latour in Pauillac, Araujo in Napa Valley and several other high-profile wine estates – is also down one place to number eight; with €12.7bn through the parent company Kering.
• Pierre Castel, the wine and beer magnate who turns 89 in October, is joint 11th richest with €7.5bn alongside François Perrodo of Chateau Labegorce.
• The Bouygues brothers of Chateau Montrose are down three places to number 27, with €2.4bn.
• Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and family were ranked at 87 with €750m.
• Frederic Rouzaud of Champagne Louis Roederer is at 95 with €700m.
• Corinne Mentzelopoulos of Chateau Margaux was ranked at 104 with €630m.
• The Faiveley family of Domaine Faiveley in Burgundy are at 106 with €620m.
• Bernard Magrez, owner of Chateau Pape Clement and of several wine estates around the world, is at 107 with  €600m.
• Eric de Rothschild of Chateau Lafite Rothschild is down 23 places from 2014 at 138, but still with €450m.
• Hubert de Bouard, of Chateau Angelus, is at 234 – down 28 places – with €280m.
• Marcel Guigal, of the eponymous Rhone house has seen one of the most notable rises, up 33 places to 253 with €250m.
• The only new entry in the wine category is at number 392 with Burgundy based Henry-Frederic Roch of the Leroy family that possesses 25% of Domaine de la Romanee Conti, as well as family estate Prieure Roch. His fortune is estimated at €135m – equal to the Pol Roger family
