MUMM RELEASES SANTANA SPARKLER
Jul 1, 2015
(TDB) - Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana has teamed up with Mumm Napa to release a limited edition sparkling wine in support of disadvantaged youth.
A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris, the 12.5% abv Santana Savor is made from grapes selected from 50 separate Napa vineyards.
“Individually selected lots were kept separate during initial fermentation in order to highlight their vineyard differences and specific strengths”, said Mumm Napa of its winemaking method.
Inspired by the music of Santana, the band announced the launch of the wine via their Facebook page today, describing it as a “luscious wine” with notes of “ripe peaches, creamy vanilla, red and white berry notes.”
All proceeds will go to The Milagro Foundation, a charity established by Carlos Santana and his family in 1988 that supports disadvantaged youth, with a 75cl bottle retailing for $25.
Producing wines in the traditional method, Mumm Napa was established in California in the 1970s when French Champagne house GH Mumm sent winemaker Guy Devaux in search of a site in the US to grow traditional Champagne grapes.
