More vines need to be pulled out, says NSW wine industry
May 17, 2010
The NSW wine industry says at least another 20,000 hectares of vines need to be pulled out across the country, before a wine glut is balanced out.A vintage survey by the Winemakers Federation of Australia reported that more than 10,000 hectares of vines have been removed in the last couple of years.President of the NSW Wine Industry Association David Lowe says it's a start, but there's some way to go."We considered somewhere between 20 and 40 percent too much vineyard, this represents about 10 percent and we figured it would take about three years for this to be actioned," he says.
