Senators from Ohio and California make beer-wine bet on NBA Finals
Jun 5, 2015
(CBSSport) - Ohio senator Rob Portman and California senator Dianne Feinstein have made a bet on the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. Portman put up a six-pack of Sharpshooter Wheap IPA from the Great Lakes Brewing Co., while Feinstein put up California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines, via the Associated Press.
“LeBron said it best when he said, ‘In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned,' and the Cavs have certainly earned this trip to the NBA Finals,” Portman stated. “We're proud of what the team has done for the city of Cleveland and their loyal fans, and look forward to LeBron, Kyrie, and the team bringing home a championship.”
“As mayor of San Francisco, I wagered with my fellow mayors on the Super Bowl and my 49ers came out on top four times. As senator, I bet on the World Series with my colleagues, and my Giants have been victorious three times in the last five years. Now, I'm looking forward to yet another streak as the Golden State Warriors play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
“I'm incredibly proud of what our Warriors have accomplished so far, and I'm equally confident that my bet with Senator Portman—fine California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon against Ohio's Great Lakes beers—is a solid bet. With Klay Thompson's shooting and Andrew Bogut's defense, not to mention Steph Curry's MVP talent, this squad is set to bring another trophy to the Bay Area.”
Have to say, I agree with Feinstein's analysis. But I enjoy that Portman is wagering beer instead of wine. I couldn't be more torn on this one.
