(WISH) – The Foyt family opened a new wine bar on the main street in Speedway on May 21.

The Foyt Wine Vault is part of an expansion of the A.J. Foyt racing team offices in Texas. The building is 45,000 square feet and will serve as a central location for the team during races in the Midwestern states.

“The Foyt Wine Vault is more than just a tasting room-it’s a slice of racing history. It’s a great place to relax with friends, and a cool venue to host your special events,” said co-owner A.J. Foyt IV. “We serve some of the best wines created in Northern California and a good selection of craft beers for your enjoyment. And oh, by the way, you can get a close-up look at the last Indy car that A.J. drove in the Indy 500 in 1992.”

The wine bar will serve craft beer and feature cheese from the Tulip Tree Creamery, meat from the Smoking Goose and chocolate from The Best Chocolate in Town.

En B -- When I was a kid, Dan Gurney gave me a model car (with working heldtighas), and his signature on it saying "To Jim, Drive this car carefully." It was the first thing I ever had signed by a famous person, and I cherished it. My dad was roughly Dan's age when they both were kids, and they used to race tricycles. You can guess who won every time! What the whole family shares (my sons included) is the engineer gene or temperament, wanting to come up with some completely new idea and try to make it work.Jeff, I wish I had one of those shirt, too! I don't know where you can get them.
