Riedel launches Vinum Extreme Rosé wine glass

(Decanter) - Winemakers from Provence have helped glass designer Riedel to create the ‘perfect’ glass for the region’s rosé wines.

The Vinum Extreme Rosé glass has a specially designed bowl and diamond shape, creating a wider than normal surface area in the glass to improve evaporation, ‘intensifying the wine’s aroma’s and silkiness as it enters the mouth’, the company said.

Georg and Maximilian Riedel invited leading Provencel rosé winemakers to taste wines from various Riedel glass shapes, with the final design arrived at by consensus.

‘Rosé has become one of the most frequently enjoyed and trendy wine styles worldwide, especially in the US,’ said Maximilian Riedel, president and CEO of Austria-based Riedel Crystal.

‘The Riedel Vinum Extreme Rosé Provence glass will enhance any rosé produced in the Provençal tradition, providing a crisp, fruity wine-drinking experience to make summer celebrations and everyday enjoyment even more refreshing.’

The Vinum Extreme range was launched in 2000 and was originally designed to showcase the powerful, fruit-driven bouquet and flavours of New World wines.
