Feb 22, 2015

(BTA) - In Paris, Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Minister Desislava Taneva and International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) Director General Jean-Marie Aurand discussed opportunities for the enhancement of bilateral cooperation, Taneva's Ministry said in a press release on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Minister unveiled the Bulgarian stand at the international agricultural exhibition Salon International de l'Agriculture (SIA) in Paris.

Taneva stressed the importance and the need to strengthen Bulgarian vine and wine expertise within the framework of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 and especially concerning dessert grapes and autochthonous grape varieties. The sides can also be partners in two other priority lines: organizing a scientific and technological forum in Bulgaria and including the Bulgarian academic and professional sector in the OIV MSc in Wine Management.

At the talks, Aurand stressed the participation in the Organization's work by Bulgaria's Executive Agency on Vine and Wine, represented by its Director, Krassimir Koev, and pointed out that the Agency's activity enables Bulgaria to rank among the leading viniviticultural countries in the Black Sea region.

Bulgaria confirmed its intentions to organize a presentation of its wines in connection with the exhibition of Thracian treasures from Bulgaria at the Louvre in Paris in spring 2015.
