Alabama Senate overrides governor’s veto on wine bill

Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Senate has overridden the governor’s veto of a bill to allow the sale of stronger wine in Alabama grocery stores and other retail stores.Gov. Bob Riley had vetoed a bill the Legislature passed last week to allow the sale of wine with up to 24 percent alcohol. The limit has been 16.5 percent for wine.The Senate voted 20-8 Wednesday to override the governor’s veto.
