Apr 6, 2010

Natural food stores group, Whole Foods Market (NASDAQ:WFMI) has launched the first cork recycling program among national retailers, aiming to do its bit in cutting waste going to landfills. Cork is made from the bark of the tree, and each tree is typically harvested every 9 to 12 years, making it a sustainable industry. Whole Foods Market operates 292 stores predominately in the United States, but also has operations in Canada and the United Kingdom. The initiative is in partnership with Cork ReHarvest.
