Vive la France! Why the French wine industry is still bursting with life
Apr 3, 2010
I'm invigorated. Buzzing, in fact. I've just hopped off a plane after a whistle-stop tasting tour of south-west France, and while there's been much talk recently about French wine plummeting in popularity and needing to up its game to compete with the New World wines, I've just been sampling some of the most terrific wines I've glugged in months.
The country's problem is largely due to the horse-trading, politics and rivalries that prevent regions from working together to really set out their stall and engage wine fans with their wares. But if you can get beyond that, there are some truly special unique and curious wines
