France: Three Bordeaux estates bought by Chinese
May 15, 2013
(TheDrinksBusiness) - Three Bordeaux châteaux have been bought by Chinese investors following the sale of Château La Fleur Jonquet in Graves to a Chinese architect last week.
Château Patarabet in Saint Emilion, Château l’Enclos in Sainte Foy la Grande and Château de Pic in Cadillac have all been sold to Asian investors.
The nine-hectare Château Patarabet has reportedly been sold to a Singaporean investor who already owns a property in Saint Emilion.
The château, which has been owned by the Gombeau-Bordas family since 1920, is advertising the sale of its entire stock on its website due to the change of ownership.
The 24-hectare Chateau L’Enclos meanwhile, has reportedly been sold to Chinese billionaire Cheng Qu, owner of the Haichang Group, which specialises in petrochemicals, oil transportation, real estate and business tourism.
