(NapaValleyRegister) - Design plans were approved for the former Wine Garage on Foothill Boulevard that will turn an “eyesore” into a wine tasting room reminiscent of a 1935-era gas station.

The new Tank Garage Winery, owned and operated by James Harder and Jim Regusci, will have two antique gas pumps in front of the building that once was a gas station at 1020 Foothill Blvd.

“It will have the nostalgia of the golden age of automobiles combined with the wine industry,” a spokesman for the winery told the Planning Commission last week.

In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, the building, which is not owned by the winery, will get all new wiring, a reinforced HVAC system, and other structural upgrades.
