Florida: State Senate passes wine keg bill
Apr 27, 2013
(BizJournals) - The Florida Senate on April 25 passed a bill that would allow restaurants and bars statewide to sell wine poured from stainless steel kegs — a measure that still awaits a signature from Gov. Rick Scott.
SB 658 would lift a ban on anyone in the state selling wine in individual containers that hold more than one gallon unless they are qualified distributors and manufacturers selling to other qualified distributors or manufacturers.
The state House passed a companion bill, HB 623, on March 23.
The bill would help reduce the cost for restaurants and bars that serve wine by the glass, since wine stored in the kegs lasts longer than corked bottles, the News Herald reported.
