18th-Century French chateau demolished 'by mistake'
Dec 6, 2012
(NYDailyNews) - Imagine leaving your historic French chateau on a business trip – only to return and find it was demolished by mistake.
That’s what Russian businessman Dmitry Stroskin claims happened to his 18th-century mansion in Yvrac, a town northeast of Bordeaux, but local residents of this wine-making village are a bit more skeptical.
The mayor's office in Yvrac said that workers who were hired to renovate the grand 140,000-square-foot manor and raze a small building on the same estate mixed them up.
