Precision Sensors Monitor Winegrape Water
Oct 2, 2012
(Wines&Vines) - Researchers at the University of California, Davis, and other schools in the western states are more than halfway through a project to create and evaluate a system of inter-connected sensors that could be used to help monitor and control irrigation for winegrapes and other crops. The three-year study of precision canopy and water management is being funded through a $2.5 million grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Staff at UC Davis are working with researchers at Washington State University, the University of Arizona, New Mexico State University and Oregon State University on the project.
