(Decanter) - The US$15m high-tech winery at the Robert Mondavi Institute at the University of California Davis is near completion. The winery, part of a larger US$40m food science and brewing complex at UCDavis, will serve as an industry-leading research facility and a model for future wineries around the world, its designers say. ‘It’s been almost a decade in coming, certainly five years in planning and construction. More than that in terms of raising the funds to do it,’ said Dr. Roger Boulton, a Davis professor and engineer who helped to spearhead the project.
