(TheProvince) - Canadians are still living with a 1928 law that often makes foreign wines easier to find and cheaper to purchase than a bottle of wine produced in another province. Conservative MP Dan Albas, whose Okanagan-Coquihalla riding is in the heart of B.C.'s winemaking region, wants to change that and give Canada's small wineries the ability to uncork national markets rather than limit them to selling their product provincially. Albas has introduced Bill C-311, a private member's bill that would amend the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act for personal use. On Tuesday, the House finance committee met with wine industry groups regarding the bill's passage.
