(Forbes) - There are a number of ways to discover new wines online, but one of the most recently popular areas in the digital wine space is flash sale sites. Like the oh-so-popular fashion flash sale sites — including Gilt Groupe, ideeli and Rue La La — wine sales sites are often invitation-only and give insiders access to highly discounted quality wines. While most recognizable in the fashion industry, private flash sale sites have spread to a number of verticals — home, travel, and food, to name a few. Within the wine sector, Lot18 has made it big, taking in a whopping $44.5 million in funding and is bringing in $2 million per month. Lot18 acquired Paris-based Vinobest late last year to fuel its expansion into Europe.
