US: Alcohol sampling bill advances in Utah

Mar 5, 2012

Senators made it easier Monday to serve alcohol to one group of Utahns: restaurant owners who want to sample wine and liquor that they are considering serving in their establishments. The Senate voted 29-0 to approve SB119 by Senate Minority Leader Ross Romero, D-Salt Lake City, and sent it to the House. It “will help provide a supervised tasting experience,” he said. “We’re one of only two states that don’t have this now.” Romero said restaurants sought the change because it has been difficult to make informed decisions about choosing among thousands of wines and other alcoholic drinks.
