(TheEpochTimes) - Winemakers and filmmakers alike have long shared California, yet I recall only a handful of movies where the subject matter dealt directly with oenology—the culture of wine.
My earliest memory of a movie revolving around a winery is, “This Earth Is Mine” (1959), featuring a 34-year-old Rock Hudson and a demure Jean Simmons. Set during Prohibition, the movie feels very much like a soap opera regardless of its attempts to deal with some issues that plagued California wineries during Prohibition, such as the temptation to sell grapes to bootleggers.
