AUS: Margaret River fire won't affect wine quality
Nov 26, 2011
(TheWestAustralian) - Margaret River winemakers believe the devastating fire will not affect the quality or production of vintages because it is too early in the season.
Sandalford chief executive officer Grant Brinklow said wine makers were thanking their lucky stars grapes had not yet entered the period of verasion where they being to develop into buds.
"Sure there will be smoke in the air but it is not going to have any impact on the production of wine or the flavour or the quality of wine because that's ultimately determined by the grape and right now there aren't any grapes," said Mr Brinklow.
Cowaramup and Clownfish Wines owner Russell Reynolds agreed winemakers had dodged a bullet.
