AUS: Winemaker threatens to leave industry over CSG

Nov 9, 2011

(ABC) - The Hunter Valley Vineyard Association President says he will quit the region if the State Government renews AGL's licence to explore for coal seam gas in the wine growing area. Andrew Margan says at the end of this week the Government will decide whether to renew AGL's exploration permit. Yesterday a petition containing 11,000 signatures was presented to State Parliament, calling for the industry to be locked-out of the wine region. Mr Margan says continued exploration will spell doom for wine and tourism.
