AUS: Winemakers to reset vines' 'biological clock'
Oct 10, 2011
(ABC) - South Burnett winemakers in southern Queensland have hatched a plan to give the region the best grape growing climate in Australia.
The president of the South Burnett Wine Industry Association, Jason Kinsella, says the pruning of vines will be put back to later in the year so that the grapes are ready to be picked in April or May instead of around February.
He says the grapes will benefit from the cooler climate.
"It will actually make us, if we can get the results we believe we can, this will make the South Burnett one of the most ideal locations in Australia, climatically, to grow wine grapes, so it's a really exciting concept," he said.
