Fosters sale shouldn't affect wine industry
Sep 22, 2011
(ABC) - Wine grape growers say they shouldn't be affected by the sale of Fosters.
The company has joined the growing list of businesses to be sold to an overseas giant, this time to multinational brewer SABmiller.
Until recently, Fosters also owned some of Australia's most prominent wine brands, but it separated the wine and beer businesses last year.
Laurie Stanford, from Wine Grape Growers Australia, says while the businesses are separate, growers do need to get used to the idea of a possible wine buyout.
