SA wine industry struggles

Aug 20, 2011

It seems the wine export industry may be running dry. Wines of South Africa (Wosa) on Friday said exports to the United Kingdom alone have dropped by more than 40 percent in 2010. The drop is attributed to the strong rand and the tough economic conditions worldwide. Wosa’s André Morgenthal said things are not looking good. “The current figures are looking pretty bad. In terms of the UK - we’ve seen a drop of 44 percent in our exports year-on-year up to June,” he said.
