AUS: Harvest holds promise of aromatic wines
Feb 22, 2011
Wine makers in the South West have reported a promising start to this year's harvest.
The region is about two weeks into harvesting, with Chardonnay grapes being picked in Maragaret River at present.
The Wine Industry Association of WA says recent dry weather has led to ripe, disease-free grapes.
The Association's president John Griffiths says wine lovers should expect full-bodied reds and aromatic whites with strong fruit characters.
"Everything is pointing to a brilliant harvest, so far so good, it started very well and if this weather keeps up we should have a great vintage," he said.
