Wine Comes and Goes (to China, e.g.)

Feb 16, 2011

The California wine-grape harvest for 2010, according to figures released last week, was only 3% below the previous year’s bountiful crop, which in turn was exceeded only by 2005’s bumper year. Long and short: there’s still plenty of exportable wine coming from this key New World source. A drive along the Golden State’s beautiful coastal hills and valleys, with ever more acreage plowed for vineyards, confirms that no talk of a worldwide grape glut or recessionary weakness is discouraging more supply there.
