US: Now is time to sell state liquor stores

Feb 13, 2011

Should Pennsylvania really be in the business of selling alcohol? Should the entity that is charged with regulating the alcohol industry and trying to curb alcohol consumption also be the one trying to increase its sales? Only two states currently own and operate all wholesale and retail sales of wine and spirits: Pennsylvania and Utah. Privatization will be financially beneficial to the commonwealth. At the same time, it will promote better selection, lead to more reasonable prices and increase consumer convenience. Competition will take effect.
