UK:Wine value grows in pub market

Wine sales are growing in value in pubs, clubs and restaurants as well as in supermarkets, despite a fall in volume.On-trade wine sales were up 3.5% and off-trade sales were up 2.7%. Spirit sales in shops were strong with value growth increasing by 6.6%, but overall spirit sales were down in the on-trade by 4.6% in volume and 3.7% in value. Wine sales were the best performer in the on-trade in the year to 2 October with sales of rosé up 4.2% in value and white wine close behind with a rise of 3.9%. The figures were released in the Wine and Spirit Trade Association’s (WSTA) Quarterly Market Report
