North Coast Winegrape Harvest Late & Light

Oct 20, 2010

Napa Valley, Calif. -- In general, the 2010 growing season was slightly cooler than normal in Napa Valley. Fortunately, the region’s farming practices mitigate many of the season-to-season variations, resulting in consistently high quality year after year, according to speakers at the Napa Valley Vintners’ annual harvest report, presented yesterday in San Francisco. “We are in the final days of harvest for 2010, and every winemaker I’ve talked with is thrilled at what they are tasting in the initial stages, all across the board,” said NVV board president Bruce Cakebread, of 150,000-case Cakebread Cellars, Rutherford.
