AUS: Margaret River holds on to its vines

Oct 17, 2010

The Margaret River Wine Industry Association says local wineries have managed to avoid mass grape removals, as seen in other states. Although a recent survey revealed almost 7000 hectares of vines had been removed in the last year in response to the grape glut, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics suggest that's not enough. Association president Nigel Gallop says by pushing the Margaret River message in the domestic market, the industry can remain strong and avoid pulling vines.
