AUS - Riverland wineries defend water use

Wine grape growers in South Australia's Riverland don't believe they are wasting water to produce wine grapes. With the wine industry in oversupply and the current debate about water use continuing to boil, production continues. Chris Byrne, executive officer of the Riverland Wine Grape Growers' Association, says wine grapes make up 59 per cent of the Riverland's horticulture production, and the proposed Murray-Darling Basin Authority water caps will not help recovery in the region.
