Time to Take Tariffs Threat Seriously
Jun 20, 2020
(Wine-Searcher) - The US wine trade – and the media – needs to start learning the facts behind the latest tariff threat.
Listen up, wine lovers. I'm going to tell you something, and I'm going to scold and brag in doing so, and you might look askance at me. But I'm trying to help, because what I have to say is important, I already said it, and the imported wine industry is not paying enough attention.
New tariffs on Italian wine are a very real threat. Some kind of tariff on all European wine, which was widely reported by the lazy wine media earlier this year as an apocalyptic threat when it wasn't, is also actually a possibility later this year.
