American Airlines lounges to offer free alcohol

Sep 21, 2010

American Airlines says the drink is on the house at airport lounges. The airline said Tuesday that starting Oct. 1, it will serve members and guests free alcohol at its Admirals Club lounges in the U.S. That covers beer, wine and well drinks. The airline says there will be a charge for some premium liquors, wines and food items. American says customers have been clamoring for free drinks, and it's just giving them another benefit for joining the Admirals Club. The club isn't free, by the way -- it can cost up to $500 a year or $50 for a one-day pass, according to application forms on the airline's website.
