Chicago Runs Wine Across the Indiana Border

Aug 27, 2018

(Wine-Searcher) - With huge price differences between states, some Chicagoans are reverting to old habits.

Chicago has never been a very clean town when it comes to politics or crime. However, given how high state and city booze taxes are here its residents may feel somewhat justified in turning to illegal activity to access wine at lower prices.

Last year and in the spring and summer of 2018 dozens of businesses were fined for illegally selling alcohol over state borders in Indiana towns such as Hammond, which forms part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
