Soggy Season for Grape Growers in the East

Aug 23, 2018

(Wines&Vines) - It’s been a very wet summer across much of the East, from Georgia to New York and west to the Mississippi River. During the third week in August, there were reports of flooded roads and soggy farms around Seneca Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes region, and above average rainfall has occurred in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and south into Georgia. On the western side of the Mississippi, the weather summary is quite different: from southwestern Missouri northeastward into southeastern Iowa the summer was extremely dry and quite hot.
