Lake County Wineries Take Stock After Fires

Aug 18, 2018

(Wine-Searcher) - The huge Mendocino fire has ravaged Lake County, but it appears to have all but missed the vineyards.

Lake County grapegrowers would like you to know that, after a brush with the largest wildfire in California history, they are back on the job and the grapevines are too.

Parts of Lake County wine country were evacuated by the massive Mendocino Complex fire, which has burned nearly 500 square miles, but is currently 69 percent contained. As the fire has moved into the massive Mendocino National Forest, Lake County evacuation orders were lifted last week, allowing workers back to the vines and wineries. Fortunately, almost all of those were undamaged.
