ARGYLE WINERY AND PACIFIC NORTHWEST COLLEGE OF ART TO UNVEIL THIRD ANNUAL “ART OF SPARKLING” RELEASE
Aug 14, 2018
DUNDEE, Ore. – Argyle Winery is excited to announce that it will be unveiling its limited-edition 2015 Art of Sparkling Vintage Brut at a special event to be held on September 15th. As part of Argyle’s philanthropic support of the Oregon arts community, Art of Sparkling is a unique program in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). Each year, the Art of Sparkling program results in a three-bottle collection of the Argyle Vintage Brut, with each of the three bottles adorned with an original label created by PNCA student artists. This year’s artists, Rebecca Giordano, Levi Hylton and Jeff Cravath, were selected from among their peers based on their student portfolios, and were awarded scholarships from Argyle and the opportunity to create an original label. The new Art of Sparkling collection will be unveiled at the Argyle Tasting House, and online, on September 15th, and will be available for purchase in a custom three-bottle set that will include profiles of the artists.
“The Art of Sparkling, and our collaboration with the PNCA, is a reflection of our deep roots in the community, and our longtime support of the arts,” said Argyle Sales and Marketing Director Rob Alstrin. “To nurture and celebrate the next generation of artists, while providing them a unique and highly visible platform for sharing their stunning original works of art, is something we believe in deeply.” Prior to creating their labels, the featured artists immersed themselves in the Argyle story and its pioneering sparkling wine program, through visits to Argyle’s estate vineyards, winery and Tasting House—experiences that informed and inspired their labels.
“PNCA could not be more pleased with our partnership with Argyle Winery,” said Don Tuski, president of the Pacific Northwest College of Art. “Argyle provides not only generous scholarships for students, but it also gives them a unique opportunity to apply their talents and work alongside a team of professionals, gaining invaluable real-world experience. The Art of Sparkling is a true collaboration that highlights both the fine winemaking of Argyle and our student artists.”
While the new labels will not be unveiled until September 15th, the artists describe their works as follows:
Rebecca Giordano - An exploration of the Argyle story, and the unique interaction between humans and the vineyards of the Willamette Valley over time.
Levi Hylton - A surreal landscape comprised of many aspects of the grape plant, as well as the interaction between the plant and its ecosystem.
Jeff Cravath - An ethereal portrait of the grapevine as an ally of our exploration in both divinity and science.
The Art of Sparkling Label Reveal event will be held on September 15th, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the Argyle Tasting House in Dundee, Oregon. The event is complimentary to the public, with a fee of $20 for those who wish to participate in a guided wine tasting featuring the 2015 Art of Sparkling Vintage Brut. The scholarship winners will be on hand to talk about their label creations, as will guests from PNCA.
Like all of Argyle’s sparkling wines, the limited-edition 2015 Art of Sparkling Vintage Brut is made using the traditional French Champagne method, aged for three or more years and bottle-fermented. The three-bottle 2015 Vintage Art of Sparkling collection will be available for purchase at the event for $100, or online at Argylewinery.com while supplies last.
