Napa Keeps a Wary Eye on Monster Fire

Aug 9, 2018

(Wine-Searcher) - The largest fire in California history is now 10 times the size of the city of Paris. It's burning in two important counties for wine production, and it's only 48 percent contained. Yet winegrowers are still feeling lucky.

Napa Valley Grapegrowers held an impromptu meeting Thursday morning about the wildfires burning in Mendocino and Lake Counties, less than 100 km north. After last year's devastating fires destroyed homes across Napa and Sonoma Counties, it stands to reason people would be worried about the Ranch Fire, which is already five times larger than the largest of last year's fires.
