Bourgogne Côte d'Or – Death by Boredom?
Jan 8, 2018
(Wine-Searcher) - A new appellation covering Burgundy is hardly likely to spark excitement among wine lovers.
In 2010, Valérie Pajotin, director of Anivin de France, famously said that French wine would end up "like Coca Cola", with many producers opting out of appellation systems in favor of adopting a generic "Vins de France" brand.
How wrong she was; France appears firmly committed to its legendary bureaucracy, and nowhere is this more apparent than in sacred Burgundy.
