Moonshine's Musical Inspiration

Nov 26, 2017

(Wine-Searcher) - Check out some rousing tunes to go with your glass of whiskey this holiday weekend.

Moonshine, that most hush-hush of spirits, immediately conjures an image of the quiet, liquid rebellion that took place during those Prohibition years in the United States.

Allegedly made using just the light of the moon to avoid discovery, moonshine has a wide range of equally evocative nicknames including white lightning, mountain dew, hooch and the innocent sounding "corn in a jar." However, all mean one thing, a typically white high-alcohol spirit made, at least back in the day, under the cover of night in defiance of the law.
