NPR Launches Wine Club To Help Fund Public Radio

Sep 27, 2017

(Forbes) - There's a new public radio product to stuff in your beloved NPR tote bag: Wine.

On September 26, NPR announced its new membership package, the NPR Wine Club, which will help fund public radio and reward subscribers with quarterly deliveries of twelve premium wines. The inaugural varietals include an "All Grapes Considered" Malbec, a "Weekend Edition" Cabernet Sauvignon and an "Uncorked" Merlot.

Your favorite podcasts hosts aren't curating the wine list (yet). Experts from Direct Wines, Wines That Rock and several licensed wineries and retailers will help procure the worldwide selection of NPR-approved bottles, from New Zealand to California's Central Coast.

Bottles will be delivered with background stories (as well as tasting notes and pairing suggestions) to better inform imbibers about the wine they're drinking, so practice your best Ira Glass voice to read your bottle notes out loud.
