May 30, 2017

(Plenglish) - Chile currently is China''s third wine exporting country, after France and Australia, but the wine business goes further with the purchase of three vineyards by a group of companies from the Asian nation.

The news confirmed the enormous interest in China's consumption of Chile's high-quality wines, something that could be seen in a recent Roadshow during the visit to Beijing of President Michelle Bachelet.

During a press release, Chilean consortium Bethia announced the agreement with Chinese wine company Yantai Changyu Pioneer Wine, which reached an agreement to buy the Indomita, Santa Alicia and Dos Andes vineyards.

The Yantai Changyu Pioneer Wine group, which has similar production models in France, Italy and New Zealand, should wait for the official approval of its country and then proceed with the business in Chile by late June.

Bethia has been one of the most powerful conglomerates in the southern nation, with interests in Latam aeronautical group, the Falabella chain of stores and the private Mega television channel.
