The World's Most Wanted Cabs

May 1, 2017

(Wine-Searcher) - We take a look at the most popular examples of the most popular grape on Wine-Searcher.

It's a well-worn axiom that Cabernet is king in California, but the real truth is that when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon, California is king – and particularly Napa Valley.

No surprise that Cabernet is the most searched-for wine on Wine-Searcher – it's the most famous red wine grape in the world, after all, ever since Merlot was put in its place by Paul Giamatti in Sideways. It's also the base grape of the great red wines of Bordeaux's Left Bank.

In fact, the dominance of Cabernet and Cabernet-Merlot blends in the search results on Wine-Searcher is an almost mirror-image reflection of the most searched-for wines generally; the red wines of Bordeaux rule the roost, with half the top 10 being Left Bank Cabernet blends.
