Ugh, United is running out of wine
Apr 14, 2017
(NYPost) - On a difficult travel day — in-flight turbulence, no Wi-Fi, long delays — all a passenger wants to do is relax into his seat with a nice glass of pinot grigio. If he’s just witnessed a man being forcibly dragged off the airplane, perhaps two nice glasses of pinot grigio.
Unfortunately for United Airlines — more unfortunately, you might say — the carrier is reportedly facing a wine shortage.
United recently sent out a memo to its international flight attendants, saying, “You may have noticed that our United Polaris customers are really enjoying the new wine offerings and as a result we have been utilizing more wine on board — which is actually at a rate of about 300 percent more than forecasted. As a result, we are running out of popular wines too quickly.”
Brian Sumers, airline business reporter for Skift, first tweeted out the company memo.
