Calistoga open to outdoor marijuana grows

Apr 2, 2017

(NVR) - The Calistoga City Council will hold an April 18 public hearing to consider allowing households to grow as many as two marijuana plants outside and four inside.

During a March 21 discussion, a few councilmembers signaled they’d also consider allowing a medical marijuana dispensary in town, although a fuller discussion of that issue will be deferred to a later date.

Currently, no Napa County city allows outdoor growing or a medical marijuana dispensary although the topic is under increased discussion.

Last November the City Council asked staff to draft new regulations bringing the city’s Municipal Code into compliance with Proposition 64, which legalized recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older and allows the indoor cultivation of up to six plants per household. Local governments like Calistoga can choose to allow some or all of those six to be grown outdoors.
