Millennials are changing the way wine is bought and sold
Mar 14, 2017
(Your4state) - Wine industry officials say millennials really love their wine.
Studies show they love it more than any other generation.
The most recent study by the wine industry nonprofit, Wine Market Council, says millennials drank 42% of all wine in the U.S. in 2015, more than any other age group.
Millennials make up 30% of "High Frequency" drinkers meaning they drink about 3 glasses of wine per sitting.
Local vineyards are feeling the impact.
Big Cork Vineyards in Rohrersville has had to up their production recently to fulfill the increasing demand.
"You can't just be a local vineyard anymore," Jed Gray, the General Manager of Big Cork Vineyards says. "You actually have to have a product that resonates with them."
