(TDB) - Cork producers Amorim and MA Silva were recognised for the strides they have made to combat TCA at the wine technology fair Intervitis Interfrusta Hortitechnica last week.

Both producers picked up silver medals for product innovation, Amorim for its ‘NDtech’ system and MA Silva for its own ‘One by One’ gas phase spectroscopy system. Both systems allow the companies to inspect individual corks for instances of TCA and, where necessary, reject them; helping to drastically reduce incidences of the fault.

Intervitis hailed both innovations as important and necessary upgrades to existing closures systems.

Both Amorim’s marketing manager Carlos de Jesus and MA Silva’s global sales director, José Remoaldo, told the drinks business they were happy with the recognition and added that sales of cork from both ranges were going well.
