IS LAVAUX THE WORLD’S MOST STUNNING REGION?

Sep 14, 2016

(TDB) - Switzerland may not be renowned for its wine, but it can lay claim to one of the most visually stunning vineyards on earth in Lavaux.

Some vineyards have a lot going for them in terms of aesthetics, but one is not only nestled into a series of lush, steep hillsides with sweeping views os the Alps while boasting an assortment of medieval villages in the surrounding area, and that’s Lavaux in Switzerland.

And there may be a reason why you’ve not stumbled upon this little slice of heaven before, which is that the family-owned winery sees 95% of their product consumed locally, despite it being named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 2007, according to Forbes.

Tours around the vineyard and the surrounding towns are common and encouraged, with a train that departs on the hour taking you around the sweep and showing you the breathtaking views of Lake Geneva.
