BULK WINE NOW 38% OF GLOBAL WINE EXPORTS

(TDB) - In comparison, bottled wine accounted for 54.3% of global exports and sparkling wine just 7.1% despite an insatiable global thirst for fizz.

Since the year 2000 bulk wine has grown its total share of global wine exports by over 4%, from 34% to 38.6%.

Global bulk wine sales have increased by a whopping 71%, from 59.99 million hectoliters in 2000 to 102.43 million hectoliters last year.

Value sales have also risen sharply, increasing by 107% between 2000 and 2015 from €13,704 to €28,333 million.

The standard price of bulk wine has increased by 16% from €0.61 per liter in 2000 to €0.71 in 2015.

This November over 220 exhibitors and 6,000 visitors from all over the world will descend on Amsterdam for the eighth annual World Bulk Wine Exhibition, which assembles 85% of the global supply for bulk wine

Taking place at the Amsterdam Rai from 21-22 November, the USA will have strong representation at this year’s show.

Last year, the US bought 277 million liters of bulk wine, amounting to $250 million
